South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy (SACOME)
Who Are We?
The South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy (SACOME) is the peak representative body of the South Australian resources industry. It is a not-for-profit organisation which has over 110 members from the following:
- Minerals sector: which includes exploration, production, rehabilitation and primary processing.
- Energy sector: which includes energy generation from traditional and alternative energy sources.
- Petroleum sector: which includes exploration, production and rehabilitation.
- Extractive sector: which includes extraction (quarrying), primary processing and rehabilitation.
- Infrastructure sector: which includes oil and gas pipelines, energy transmission and distribution.
- Services sector: which includes those who provide services to the resources industry.

Why Negotiate?
The Chamber views the SA Native Title Resolution negotiations as an opportunity to establish positive and respectful ongoing relationships between the resources industry and Indigenous communities. In turn, this creates the opportunity for the industry to operate with certainty, efficiency and goodwill.

What Do We Want To Achieve?
The Chamber sees participation in the SA Native Title Resolution negotiations as offering the chance to achieve the following:
- End uncertainty in relation to access and use of land and water;
- Deliver outcomes which provide quick, affordable and predictable access by the resources industry to land on terms agreed with Aboriginal people;
- Provide agreed outcomes between Aboriginal people and the resources industry, through a better approach, to Native Title and land access issues.
- Improve social, economic and environmental benefits to Aboriginal people through the stimulation of investment in exploration and mining activities in the State.
